I wrote a big long comment here and the blogger lost it. Drats!<br /><br />Anyway - I have heard from my best friend who lives in Wellington that NZ has wonderful health care. Here&#39;s her blog link - http://micklenz.blogspot.com/<br /><br />When all is said and done with my own carpal tunnel surgery - I hope your mother does NOT have it done with a scope. 2 doctors have told me that this does NOT work. The results are hands that are worse then before the surgery. <br /><br />As for the recovery. I was typing on the day of the surgery. No splints - and once the stitches came out I started squeezing a ball and rubbing cream into the surgery spot to desensitize it. <br /><br />I still don&#39;t have my strength back but I am assured that will return. I&#39;m started to lift more weight every day with my right hand and I expect the same with the left. <br /><br />I think I had a wonderful surgeon. Just lucked out. He was so kind and looked me right in the eye. All he does is hands and is so happy to have spent all his medical life doing that. <br />When he told me he just did hands I blurted out &#39;I just do eyes&#39;. He looked at me and I said - &#39;from Blade Runner&#39;. He laughed and said - I love that movie! <br /><br />One thing Jian - as I see you want to go forward in this field - never forget that compassion means more to a patient than almost anything. Unfortunately in this day and age doctors seem to have lost that in their hurry to see the next patient. Sad. <br /><br />Tell Mom I will be thinking of her. Can you let me know when her surgery is?
